PRELUDE

"Now Thank We All Our God"

--  J. S. Bach/Virgin Fox

GREETING & ANNOUNCEMENTS

PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

The Peace of Christ be with you.

And also with you.

Let us extend the right hand of Christian fellowship to our neighbors.

*HYMN #220

"All People That on Earth Do Dwell"

*CALL TO WORSHIP

Give praise to the One who formed us and gathered us as the Church in this place.

Praise to the God of Israel, the Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ!

Give praise to the One who has blessed us and given us our years of ministry.

Praise to our God for all his blessings.  Give thanks to God’s holy name.

God has caused his name to dwell in our midst.

God has stirred our hearts and enriched us by his presence.

For 187 years, God has nurtured and fed us in this place as well as years before this structure was erected.

For 187 years, God has shown us his love in this place.

For 111 years, God has given himself in Word and Sacrament in this place.

For 187 years, God has empowered our faith through his Holy Spirit.

Praise to the Lord for 111 years!  Praise him in all times and seasons!

Praise to the Lord for all our days.  Praise him for evermore!

CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

We blend our voices in common confession, O God you are our hope of salvation.  The Apostle teaches that there are varieties of gifts, yet we judge others because they do not fit our mold.  There is one Savior, yet we mistrust those who do not believe as we do, and doubt that they are led by the same Spirit.  Forgive us for the many ways we sever the parts of Christ’s body.  Through him reconcile us and pardon our estrangement.  Let us confess our sins against God and our neighbor.  Amen.  [Followed by a moment of silent prayer.]

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

Hear the Good News!  Who is in a position to condemn?  Only Christ, and Christ died for us, Christ rose for us, Christ reigns in power for us, Christ prays for us.  Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation.  The old life is gone; a new life has begun.  Know that you are forgiven and be at peace.

In Jesus Christ we are forgiven.  Let us forgive one another.  Amen.

RESPONDING TO THE WORD

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH [“The Apostles' Creed”]

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.  I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead.  On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come again to judge the living and the dead.  I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.  Amen.

THE SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION

Invitation to the Lord’s Table.

The Great Prayer of Thanksgiving.

The Lord be with you.

And also with you.

Lift up your hearts.

We lift them up to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right to give thanks and praise.

It is truly right and our greatest joy to give you thanks and praise,  . . .

. . .  Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with angels and archangels and with all the faithful of every time and place, who forever sing to the glory of your name:

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory.  Hosanna in the highest.  Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.  Hosanna in the highest.

Accept this, our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving as a living and holy offering of ourselves, that our lives may proclaim the One crucified and risen.  Great is the mystery of faith:

Christ has died, Christ has risen, Christ will come again.

OUR LORD’S PRAYER  [Matthew 6:9-13]

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our  debtors;  and  lead  us not into temptation,  but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever.  Amen.

Breaking of the Bread.

Communion of the people.

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION

In union with your church in heaven and on earth, we pray, O God, that you will fulfill your eternal purpose in us and in the world.  Keep us faithful in your service until Christ comes again in final victory, and we shall feast with all the saints in the joy of your eternal kingdom.  Amen.
