PRELUDE & QUIET MEDITATION  [Congregational Responses are in BOLD]

From waving palms, and streets paved with cloaks, we come to hail Jesus of Nazareth, our King of kings, and the Lord of lords.

GATHERING AROUND THE WORD

PRELUDE

GREETING & ANNOUNCEMENTS

PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST  [Congregational Responses are in BOLD]

The Peace of Christ be with you.

And also with you.

Let us extend the right hand of Christian fellowship to our neighbors.

*HYMN #88

"All Glory, Laud, & Honor"

*CALL TO WORSHIP  [Psalm 118:1-2a

O give thanks to the Lord,

For the Lord is Good:

God’s steadfast love endures forever.

Let Israel say, God’s steadfast love endures forever.

Let us worship our God.

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Holy God, sure of your faithfulness even in your dying, comforted by your compassion toward your people in every age, we beg your mercy for our imperfect gratitude.  We have looked to you for paltry favors, when you have given everything.  We have withheld from your people, our neighbors, and from your creation, our Earth, the care and tending they deserve.  We rejected the cornerstone you sent to build a people of righteousness even here, today.  Forgive our failings.  Heal what we have broken, nurture what we have neglected, and lead us to your vision, so that we may know your peace, in Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen. [Followed by a moment of silent prayer.]

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

Your God has come to you, humble in the form of a slave, to free you from the weight of sin and death.  Jesus’ obedient suffering has released you.  Your sins are forgiven, in the name of the one who is exalted beyond what we can comprehend, know that you are forgiven and be at peace.

In Jesus Christ we are forgiven.  Let us forgive one another.  Amen.

RESPONDING TO THE WORD

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH  [“This the Good News . . . “]

This is the Good News which we have received, in which we stand, and by which we are saved, if we hold it fast:  that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third  day,  and  that he  appeared first  to the women,

then to Peter, and to the twelve, and then to many faithful witnesses.  We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God.  Jesus Christ is the first and the last, the beginning and the end; he is our Lord and our God.  Amen.

HYMN  #89

"Hosanna, Loud Hosanna"

PASTORAL PRAYER

OUR LORD’S PRAYER  [Matthew 6:9-13]

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our  debtors;  and  lead  us not into temptation,  but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever.  Amen.
