PRELUDE & QUIET MEDITATION  [Congregational Responses are in BOLD]

On this Easter morning let us through our prayers, hymns, meditation, and the hearing of God’s Good News! celebrate the victory of Jesus over the power of sin and death!  Christ is Risen!  Christ is Risen indeed!

GATHERING AROUND THE WORD

PRELUDE

"Christ Arose'"

--  Lowry/Innes

GREETING & ANNOUNCEMENTS

PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST  [Congregational Responses are in BOLD]

The Peace of Christ be with you.

And also with you.

Let us extend the right hand of Christian fellowship to our neighbors.

*HYMN #113

"Christ the Lord Is Risen Today!"

*CALL TO WORSHIP  [Psalm 118:24]

Christ is Risen!

Christ is Risen indeed!

This is the day that the Lord has made!

Let us rejoice and be glad in it.  Alleluia!

Let us worship our God.

Alleluia!  Amen!

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

O God, like the first witnesses of the Resurrection, we also greet the empty tomb with a variety of responses.  Forgive us when we fail to make the Risen Christ evident in our lives through our words and our actions.  As we come to the empty tomb to seek forgiveness for all sins, help us to reorder our priorities so that we will always put Christ first in our lives.  For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, our Risen Lord, who died for us, who rose from the dead for us, forgive us all that is past, and lead us out from darkness to truly walk as children of light.  Amen.  [Followed by a moment of silent prayer.]

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

Hear the Good News!  God says these words to us:  “I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will remember your sins no more.”  I declare to you in the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.

In Jesus Christ we are forgiven.  Let us forgive one another.  Amen.

RESPONDING TO THE WORD

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH  [“The Apostles' Creed“]

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ, his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he arose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.  I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  Amen.

HYMN  #106

PASTORAL PRAYER

OUR LORD’S PRAYER  [Matthew 6:9-13]

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our  debtors;  and  lead  us not into temptation,  but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever.  Amen.
